On January 16th, right before their big music festival in Arizona, (8123 Fest) The Maine dropped a single from their upcoming album, "You Are Ok." The band had been teasing that they had been working on a new album for awhile, so many fans, including myself, expected some new music to be releasing soon. Getting a single right before the 8123 weekend was just enough to get all of the fans excited.
"Numb Without You," the new single, is very different for The Maine. There's a string section playing throughout the entirety of the song, which is something they have never done before. It adds a very unique sound to the song, and if the rest of the songs on the album are anything like this one, then I know I'll love it.
During the bridge towards the end of the song, the tempo slows down and John O' Callaghan, the lead singer's, voice becomes more soft and slightly auto-tuned. However, the auto tune isn't overdone or annoying. In fact, it adds an aspect to the song that is unique to The Maine, and I love it.
If I had to right this song, I would probably give it five out of five stars. I see no downsides to this song. It's a song you can easily sing along to, and it was definitely worth the almost two year wait since the released their last album.
